Rumspringa

Rose is a 16 year old Amish girl in the throes of the introductory rites of her Rumspringa, during which she continues to live in her Old Order church community in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Upon meeting a non-Amish boy at a barn party in a neighboring town and entering a secret courtship with him, Rose pulls away from her community and confronts long-simmering tensions between her faith and her family.

Rumspringa explores the limits of social conditioning and the impact of a separatist lifestyle on a vulnerable youth population. Faced with the inscrutability of God’s plan, the Amish choose faith.
